Coconuts have grown in popularity among the western world recently, because of their amazing health benefits. Populations who eat a lot of coconuts are amoung the healthiest on the planet, so its great that we are now catching on to this trend!

There are so many parts of the coconut that we can use to boost our health:

Coconut Water

Low in calories, naturally fat- and cholesterol free, more potassium than four bananas, and super hydrating!

Research suggests the clear liquid has the same electrolyte balance found in isotonic drinks, proving useful to athletes who need fast hydration and hangover party animals on a Sunday morning after a few to many cocktails the night before! (We know a few of them!)

Coconut milk

Coconuts are highly nutritious and rich in fibre, vitamins & minerals. Unlike cow's milk, coconut milk is lactose free so can be used as a milk substitute by those with lactose intorenance. It is a popular choice with vegans and makes a great base for smoothies, milkshakes and even in curries and pasta sauces.

It is now thought that consumption of coconut milk may help protect the body from infections and viruses.

Coconut Oil

Coconut flesh is usually made into coconut oil, replacing your usual cooking oil for coconut oil can benefit you in a number of ways: including fat loss and better brain function.

Coconut oil has been demonized in the past because it contains saturated fat. However the type of saturated fat that coconuts contain, in moderation, are actually really good for you!

The magical oil is also said to suppress your appitite, meaning you eat less, which is great for people trying to loose weight!

As well as all of the health benefits, coconut oil can be used as a sun protection, a hair mask, you can use it to brush your teeth, the list is endless!

Watch your head!
