Why do we think the metrocentre is the best place to shop in the UK? Not just because we're a North East company - I swear!
With all of the best designer and high street shops all under one roof it's no wonder people flock to the Metrocentre everyday but what else makes this the perfect place to shop till you drop all year round? We share our favourite places to eat, upcoming events and our top shopping tips to get you ready for the winter shopping sprees!
Best Places to eat all under one roof! Here’s some of our Fave’s:
This quirky little diner is bringing 1950’s America to Newcastle. The food is adorable and gives us all the Retro feels! Hotdog for one please!
Nandos (Extra Cheeky)
It speaks for itself, but If you're going to treat your boyfriend to a meal you should treat him something extra spicy for spending the day shopping with you!
I like to team my shopping with a custom made milkshake for my own pleasure. I would advise the Kinder Bueno for a taste sensation.
CAN WE JUST talk about the Krispy Kreme and StarBucks drive through?
Yes on the way out of intu Metrocentre there is a brand-spanking new Starbucks drive through, and located next door you will find a Krispy Kreme drive through! What is this? Newcastle is morphing into America and we love it!
Perfect place for Christmas shopping – But timings is everything!
Us Northerners know that’s there is nothing worse than a jam packed Metrocentre, year after year we leave the Christmas shopping until December 15th and it is impossible to navigate around the Mall’s!
Here's a few tips for surviving Xmas shopping in the metro:
- Plan your shopping trips in advance and know where you want to be! Look at the map and park wisely, if you only need some shoes from New Look then Park in red and be shopper smart.
- If you have to take the kids, bring along one of the grandparents to take them to Santa’s Grotto while you get some serious shopping done! The elves should entertain them for a good hour.
- Go in the morning, or late at night. The opening times change nearer the time but current weekdays times are 10am until 9pm!
Amour&Mer’s Metrocenter top tips
Always Park in the Yellow Mall:
For most people over the age of 20 Metrocentre Yellow Mall meant one thing; fond memories of the utopian dream world that was MetroLand. I heard that if you listen hard enough you can still hear the screams of 90’s kids quivering in fear on the rollercoaster. Replaced with some of the best places to eat, yellow mall’s food court is something to be desired after a hard days shopping, so on the way back to your car why not pop into Nandos for a cheeky one or if you’re feeling classy - Zizzi’s.
Don’t wear heels:
There’s nothing funnier than seeing some poor girl hobbling around shopping in 6 inch heels, But there’s also nothing worse than being THAT girl. Grab some flats and enjoy a day shopping in comfort!
Take advantage of being in walking distance:
Unlike Newcastle City Centre you can go whatever the weather and it not be a fuss, the furthest you’ll have to walk is from River Island in the Red Mall to Topshop In Green! It’s a great to go to when you need a big blow out, like before university or in the sales right after payday!
Upcoming Events at Intu Metrocentre:
This year student night is on the 30th of September and you can sign up here!
“Join us in the Student Save-Zone on Wednesday 30th September from 3pm - 9pm for fantastic night of great offers, competitions and live music & DJs on the malls.”
